Who is the best flagship captain in Sea of Conquest?

Toothsome Tom in the current meta, with Old Ahab as the realistic alternative for players who cannot star Tom.

What is the meta flagship core?

Toothsome Tom as captain, Chien for mitigation and Callahan Durrach for shielding, plus a defense hero in Master-at-Arms and a support hero in Surgeon.

Toothsome Tom or Old Ahab?

Tom at equal stars. Ahab in practice, for most accounts, because his shards come from the standard Conch pool.

Why is the flagship core so defensive?

Because if the flagship sinks the fleet sinks. Survivability there converts directly into fleet uptime and therefore damage.

Can I put damage heroes in Master-at-Arms?

No. Slot 4 is locked to defense heroes and slot 5 to support heroes.

Is he useful in Trials?

No — Trials is 5v5 turn-based with no flagship.
